Valentine's Day Weekend brings back the memories

It's been awhile since I've posted anything. I have a hard time making time for it. I like blogging, but it's not as fun when Jackson's always fussing at me to get off or him wanting to punch the keys. And then when I do have the time, I'm always putting off to spend time with Trapper or do something else. So I will just have to make this brief this morning as Jackson starts to pull books off the bookshelf. Crazy kid.

Two weekends ago, my mother and father-in-law and the three youngest kids came out to visit for Valentine's weekend. We went out and ate, played games, and all of us adults, with Josh and Sally, went to a Valentine's dinner and program held in our ward. I made cream cheese brownies with the cream cheese pink, in honor of the occasion. When we got there, we had to write our names down as couples on little sheets of paper and put them in a basket. Once we'd gotten our dinner and were eating, the program began. Whoever's name was taken out of the basket had to get up and introduce themselves and say how they met each other. The first name they pulled out was Bev and Kim's. That was pretty funny, considering no one knew them. Half the people there hardly even know me and Trapper. The next name they pulled out was mine and Trapper's! You never get your named pulled if you're trying to win a prize, but gosh dang it, we were chosen to share our story. Not a special one like some others, but it's fun to look back and remember.

HMM Jackson is being very good. Let me share you our meeting story for those who don't know. We were both in our second year of college. Trapper had just gotten home from his mission in June. He was excited about dating, but was determined to date lots of girls and not get tied down too quickly. Being boy crazy like I'd been since I was 14, I'd made up my mind that I would not have any boyfriends this year and just hang out with my roommates and have a good time with them. Well, the first week we were there, Trapper and his buddies came over to the girls' apartments to meet the girls in their ward, which included me. I think our door was the first door they came to. Anyway, we met him and his friends and Trapper and I played "Horse" on a little basketball net that my friend had out in the living room. He won, of course. That's how we met. After I'd met him, I thought he was a nice guy and very cute, but I would not allow myself to like him. Besides, I'd only have to see him on Sundays. Trapper's first thoughts of me were that he could see himself going on some dates with me. That was it. Turns out, not only were we in the same ward, but we were also New Testament class together and we were in the same FHE group. Trying NOT to like him was SUPER difficult. Needless to say, we started dating soon after.

Okay, back to the present. After hearing people's stories of how they met, a dance commenced. I have this natural...habit, or disposition to dance any time I hear music. Even if I'm just sitting in my chair, I'll bounce in it. So Trapper and I got up and danced to a few songs. I love dancing with him. We don't do it much, but for some reason, his eyes just get this very tender and sexy look when we dance. It reminded me of the first time we ever danced together. We were just friends and had gone to a "Guitars Unplugged" event. There was a big dance after, so we all stayed. I FINALLY got to dance with him on the last song. And I remember thinking how wonderful it felt to be in his arms. We just fit so well together. I guess I felt like that because I had been dancing with his two buddies, Jeff and Greg, and they're like giants when standing next to me. Anyway, I had hard time looking Trapper directly in the eyes because he was just staring so cutely at me. It made my heart race like mad. Well, after being married for 3 1/2 years, it still made my heart race and I couldn't look directly back at him otherwise I'd be blushing. Ahh, I love that man.

Some other things we did that weekend were going to Rifle Falls. It's really pretty! It was snowy and hard to get around and very cold, but it was so fun. Here are some pictures.
