I HATE flying. I never liked it before I got married and the thought of doing it now is torture. Especially with a small child and being pregnant. The flight there was a nightmare. Jackson and I had left the house at 7:30am to get to the airport in Hayden, which is 2hours away. And we arrived in North Carolina at 10pm that night. So it was an all day adventure.....strike that...NOT an adventure. Adventures are fun. This was ridiculous. It wasn't so much Jackson. He's actually very good traveling. It was the fact that I had to carry him everywhere holding on to two bags and nobody was very helpful. I tried finding one of those carts to take me to my gate in the GIGANTIC airport of Atlanta, but tried in vain and by the time I found the right gate I was sweating and panting like a sick dog. Thankfully, the trip back was MUCH shorter and there were several people along the way to help me out.
I had been expecting to see both my parents, but my mom had to make an emergency trip to Mississippi for my Granny. So I didn't get to see my mom, but that gave me a chance to really bond with my dad. And it was great! I'm terrible at taking pictures, so there aren't many. Jackson loves his Papaw. As soon as we got home from the airport, my dad had Jackson laughing hysterically. I was so happy to see them playing and having a good time. My dad had to work pretty much every day so me and Jackson hung out at the house mostly. A couple of times, some ladies in the ward who knew that I was home alone offered to watch Jackson while I did a few things on my own. I went out and got my hair done and on another day I went shopping. I'm so grateful for those women who watched Jackson. The night after I got home, I also went out to dinner with two ladies in the ward. They were a mother and daughter and the daughter's pregnant, so we had some things in common to talk about. Dad and I went out and ate dinner a lot and that gave me some time to ask him questions about his life and about his parents. I feel like we really bonded and that I understand him so much better now. I really loved spending time with him.
We also went to a chili cook-off at the church. Everyone makes chili and then have a contest. That was the only time I took pictures. Sorry. Dad really likes to cook and experiment with his creations, so he made the chili. I offered, but he really wanted to do it. And he did a great job! By the time I got to the line to get my chili, his special made chili was almost gone! For the contest, the chili's were separated into 3 categories: hot, medium, and mild. Dad won first place in the mild category! I'm so proud of him. haha I don't think he was expecting it. Unfortunately, the prize was little girly, but just winning is awesome.
That's about all we did, but I'm glad I went and got that time with my daddy. : )
I took this picture of Jackson in his Diego pajamas cause he was SO cute in them!!
