Jackson's New Year

The first day of January was Jackson's first day of Primary. It was a very exciting yet sad moment. I do NOT feel like a woman who has a four year old child. It's crazy how time flies, and it makes me wonder how much time I'm wasting when I could be enjoying it watching my children discover new things each day.

On JT's first day of Primary, Braden and Trapper weren't feeling good, so they stayed home. When we tried to get a picture of JT dressed up, Braden had to be in it too. They really bring out the best in each other, don't you think? : )

One day I will put this picture up next to the one of him going into the MTC. That's when it'll hit me, I'm sure--the emotion, the tears, the memories, the times that were wasted...For now though, I am SO glad he's still a little boy and all mine.
JT's become more interested in taking pictures. The bag that Trapper's holding up is JT's scripture bag that his nursery leader gave him. She gave him a little Book of Mormon with a sweet note inside and a red pencil for marking. He has loved his scriptures, and often we'll sit on the couch and read them. When he hears something he likes, he'll tell us to stop and then we'll let him mark what he liked. Braden likes this game too, but mostly he just likes to say "stop" over and over.

I think he had more presents here than at Christmas. We said we'd never spoil our children. Ha!

I think their favorite part was the balloons!

We were so lucky to have some family and friends come for his party. We'd been telling the kids all morning that when Grandma and Grandpa got there, we'd opened presents. Well, Braden took it quite literally. Right after they got here, we turned around and found Braden tearing into one of the presents without any hesitation. We were shocked and stopped him immediately, but we couldn't help laughing when he looked at us with a confused look on his face like, "But Grandma and Grandpa are here!" Our friends, the Picketts, came over as well and shared in the festivities. We ate pizza and cake. Then we opened presents.

And somehow I forgot to take a picture of his cake. Not that it was anything special. JT decided he wanted a strawberry cake with strawberry icing. He really likes strawberry anything. I don't think he realized how pink it would be though. haha
The kids were really excited about Uno Attack and wanted to hit the button over and over.
Hunter Pickett, Braden, Dallin Pickett and Jackson.
Aunt Danielle sent a big pirate puzzle, so Grandma and I helped them put it together. Thanks, Danielle!
And from Nana and Papaw, they received a lot of books and scripture cases and other things. This is what they did with it all. They love making bridges....or stepping stones....or whatever it is that they do. Anyway, thank you, Nana and Papaw!
Every year, JT's new year always starts off with a bang. Lucky boy. : ) He loves being four so much he tells me almost everyday that he's four now.
