I've been meaning to get movin' on the potty training, but I had been dreading it. I hated to start during the holidays since we'd be traveling, and if we'd tried any earlier, I don't think he would have been completely ready. As soon as we got home from Utah, we geared up: Thomas the Train underwear, the potty being downstairs in the main bathroom, hiding diapers and bringing out the Pull-Ups. We've talked to Jackson over and over about the potty, and we've gotten him books to prepare him, but all that talk didn't really prepare him for the scare factor. One morning, I took his diaper off to change and decided that we'd just leave it off. He didn't like the idea. I told him it was either underwear or nothing, so he chose nothing, but that wasn't until after he cried and screamed for about a half hour for wanting his diaper. We waited probably 2 hours for him to pee--SOMEWHERE. We'd take him to the potty over and over, (with his Bert and Ernie Math book for a distraction) but with no success. After awhile, he said he peed in our room and sure enough, he did. Then he peed a little more in the living room. No big deal. I was anticipating it. I cleaned it up in two seconds. FINALLY though, while I was getting ready to go out, Jackson told Trapper he had to go to the potty, and he did it! It was a proud moment for everyone! After that, Jackson was more excited to keep trying. At night, we still put a diaper on him, and I think he's so relieved, as I am (haha), but every morning, we start again. I feel so much better about this whole thing now. Kind of like when I finally did something about Jackson waking up every 2 hours in the night. Whew! Glad that one's over! : )
What's even greater is that over the Christmas holidays, Braden did BOTH numbers in the potty! One night, after his bath, he said "Poo," so I took him to the potty not expecting anything, but he knew exactly what to do! I was amazed! So, I'm hoping to have two boys completely potty trained by the summer! That'll be a wonderful day. No more stinky diapers in the kitchen. No more accidentally getting poop on my fingers (EGH!!!!). No more trying to hold the boys down as I'm wiping. No more diapers and wipes! I'll be one ecstatic mommy.

totally jealous.
That's really cool that Braden's interested too! I'm going to try to get Pierce started even though it's kinda early. Since it's early, I feel no pressure for it to actually work. I'm not even going to buy underwear yet. Good luck with your little potty-using boys! It's so fun to see them doing big boy stuff, isn't it?
Wouldn't that be awesome to just do both at the same time!?! I'm waiting for spring when we are home more (too many basketball games right now) to train Layla, but I think she is ready. I can't wait to not have to buy diapers every time I am in town! Good luck with the boys!!!
That is great! It sure would be nice to have the diapers gone. Nights are terrible for us. Reve still has to wear pull ups every night. I think we will try and potty train next winter. My Lexi is so small she wouldn't fit any underwear for a while.
ohhhh potty training! i hear ya!! I did the same thing with my little girl (waiting til after the holidays). Now she is sick with diarrhea so i am still waiting to do the potty training. Good for you thouh!! i dread it. And your family is sooooo adorable and cute.
