Trapper's 27th Birthday

Trapper's birthday was on Thursday, the 8th, so I'm late writing about it, but that doesn't mean I was late in celebrating it HOWEVER, I did forget in the morning when he headed off to work. I am completely disoriented before 7 am, so that is my excuse for forgetting. When the kids and I sat down for breakfast a couple of hours later, we called Trapper at his work and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. For his birthday dinner that night, we ate grilled brats. Trapper was really excited about eating them. After dinner, Trapper opened his presents. His parents sent him a book about the miracles that saved America and I got him a couple of magic books. So far, he's learned one trick well enough to perform in front of other people. And that was his day. I know. Lame. But wait. It gets better.

The next day, Trapper had the day off, so we took Jackson to the doctor to get a weight check. In 3 months, he's gained 1 1/2 lbs. Wowww... haha The doctor said that that was better than nothing, but we'll need to take him to a nutritionist to see what we can do about his pickiness and giving him more foods with a high calorie intake.
Later in the evening, our awesome babysitter came over and we took off for Buca di Beppo. I love Italian, and they have REALLY good Italian food. Plus, we have lots of coupons. We really enjoyed our food. Not that you care, but we ordered the Quattro Al Forno. Super delish! We shared the entree and then had cannoli's for dessert. I told the waiter that it was Trapper's birthday and he asked if he wanted the cupcake and song. I immediately nodded my head. haha There was no way we were sneaking out without an embarrassing song. So, they brought him out a big cupcake and sang a song. I videotaped it, but the lighting it low, so you'll just have to go without it this time.
After dinner, we ran over to TJmaxx. On the way there, the radio station we were listening to was playing some great songs. I was loving it! And I love to car dance. I love to dance anywhere, actually. So, just before we were about to park, another great upbeat song came on and I was in heaven. I asked Trapper if we could stay in the car and listen to the song. He didn't mind. We started doing our little car dance when I noticed people walking to their cars and I was like, "Oh, they'll think we're crazy or something." So I stopped dancing. And I know this may not sound funny to you guys, but this cracked me up so hard that I practically cried a river. Trapper said we could hand dance instead so they wouldn't see. And then he started to dance with JUST his hands. Straight face and frozen body, but dancing hands. lol I know. Sounds stupid, but you had to have been there. I couldn't stop laughing/crying for like 5 minutes. I love that my husband can make me laugh that hard. Otherwise, how would I get through life!? The rest of our night was pretty usual, but we had a blast being together--and that's definitely a usual thing. : )
Saturday, we planned the big bash. We invited a few of our friends from church and their kids for hamburgers and brats. It was REALLY FUN! I hope we can do it again soon, and hopefully we won't have to wait for some holiday or birthday celebration. Trapper and the boys played out in the back and grilled the food while the women and babies stayed inside and bonded over babies and husbands. We had a fun time hanging out with everyone. The house was crowded but it was, seriously, super fun. After hamburgers and brats, we pulled out the strawberry cheesecake that served as his birthday cake. I will always be the kind of person who wants a candle for every year I'm alive, so when Trapper is eighty years old, that's how many candles he'll have. Just accept it, honey. : ) And he ALWAYS blows out all the candles in one breath! It amazes me every time. BUT, he didn't do it this time! One candle kept coming back! HA! I'm sorry, but I had to poke fun at him for that. Once everyone was done with dessert, Trapper opened up a gift that his friend/co-worker brought him. It was wrapped up in brown paper and had a duct tape bow. So manly. haha He was excited 'cause it was shotgun shells. Men.
After he opened his gift, he pulled out the cards and wowed everyone with his magic trick. Everyone was impressed, but they had him do it again and they all figured it out. I think we've talked him into signing up for the ward talent show next month. I told him I'll get him a magic hat and cape if he does it. haha That was pretty much the end of the party, but we had a great time.

I hope Trapper enjoyed his birthday. Though I didn't decorate or make a big hooplah on the day of his birthday, I tried to make a point to do little things for him. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I don't deserve him, but for some really odd reason, he seems to love me. I'm a lucky woman and I'm so grateful that we get to spend every day together for the rest of eternity.

I can't wait to see some of Trapper's magic tricks! He'll have to do a show next time we're all together. And you'll have to let me know how things go at the nutritionist. I was supposed to take Annabelle to one but I never did. *I know, mother of the year right here!* But maybe if it is a good experience for you and you get some good advice I'll think about getting Annabelle in.
