Entertainment center project

This is Trapper's post. I know I hardly ever post anything on here, but Suzy says I should get on every once in a while and post about the things "I" am doing. As much as I enjoy my job, I'm pretty sure nobody wants to hear anything about that, and since she does all the posts about the kids, it leaves me with limited experiences to write about.

I do like doing little projects around the house. There aren't many of those to be done in a rental property though, and we don't plan on buying again until we think we're settled in a place for a while. Every once in a while something comes up that I'm able to do though. Nothing too complicated since I don't have many tools and I don't consider myself an expert carpenter or anything. It's times like those I miss having my brother around. You know - the kind of guy that has all the tools and can fix things you mess up?

For Christmas, I got a soundbar for my new TV. It is basically a bar with a lot of speakers inside and a wireless subwoofer you place on the other side of the room to get more bass. It is a better option for people that move around a lot vs the full-on surround sound, but makes the sound from the TV 100 times better. Anyway, I was excited about that but there really wasn't a good spot to place it on the TV stand. There was too much going on in front of the TV with the soundbar and the blu-ray player, so I decided I wanted to mount the soundbar above the TV. It was pretty simple and only took about an hour of uninterrupted (key word) time to finish the whole thing, and then a few days to let it dry after the stain. I mounted the soundbar above the TV, and made a small stand for the TV to lift it up and have room for the blu-ray player to sit in front without blocking the sensor for the remote.
I'm really happy with how it turned out though. I know it looks a lot better than the temporary option we had, which was a stack of books to get the TV above the soundbar.

That looks good. I like hearing what you are doing, too. You should post more of your projects. :)

Way to go Trapper. And I agree, that brother of yours is pretty handy to have around!

It is always nice to do your own handy projects. We made a bunk bed and it was fun for us. After this last project I have really been wanting to be in a house. It is really hard doing them without a garage or yard or space to do them in. Frustrating! You will have to post any other projects we are always looking for fun ideas to do.
