Christmas was a slightly different experience for us.....considering there were about 10 other people there to keep things interesting. OOh I almost forgot. The week before we left for Tremonton, my brother came to stay with us for a couple of nights while he was working in Grand Junction. It was great seeing him since I wouldn't have the chance over the holidays. So anyway, the day we left for Tremonton was a really snowy day. After Price, Utah, the snow was coming down hard in some places. We had to go 20mph sometimes and as luck would have it, Jackson thought it would be the best time and place to scream his head off. Ashley, Trapper's sister had visited us for the week, so she rode with us in the car, but she and I switched seats so she wouldn't have to keep entertaining the little guy in the back. Trust me, that gets REALLY exhausting. So, it was my turn in the back and for some reason, Mama just couldn't get him to calm down. It was terrible. When we finally reached Spanish Fork, my left ear was ringing. We stopped at a McDonald's to eat and get Jackson out, and that was just what he needed. He laughed and smiled and ate his french fries with joy. Once we started our journey again, Jackson went right to sleep. The rest of the way wasn't so bad after that, but the interstate was pretty slushy with snow.
And for the rest of our time in Tremonton, it snowed almost EVERY SINGLE DAY. It was beautiful to look at, but I'm not a snow fan, so I never actually got out in it. Trapper and the boys, however, got out everyday and shoveled snow, even if it was still coming down. Trapper liked using the four-wheeler, so we let Jackson ride with him a few times. That kid is gonna be just like his daddy. : ) He loved it. He also loves cars and electronics, so Trapper should never have to wonder if Jackson's really his kid. haha
Another big event! Jackson got his hair cut!!! Finally! People got him confused with a girl, but now they won't! Or they better not! He definitely looks like a boy now. He was very good while Grandma cut his hair. She said he was very patient. As long as he had a cookie or something fun in his hand, he was good.
The days before Christmas, we played games (especially the Wii), watched movies, hung out with family, and had parties. Trapper has such a big family and they all live close to each other, so sometimes it felt like a zoo to me, but it was great. I don't have half as big of a family as they do, even if I did add up all my aunts and uncles and cousins. Anyway, it was really fun time being with them. For one thing, I had a bazillion babysitters. Several times, Trapper and I would be doing our own separate fun things, and Jackson would get abandoned. Well, not "abandoned." I was usually playing a game and couldn't hold Jackson unless I wanted him messing up my cards or eating the game pieces or getting upset because I wouldn't let him. It's just easier if I let one of the aunts play with him.
For christmas, (SORRY THIS IS SOO LONG) Jackson got several toys. Grandma and Grandpa Yates bought him a Diego Animal Rescue Plane. It's really cute and has lots of fun buttons. Annabelle and Jackson fought over that one a lot. haha He also got some hot wheels cars, a miniature teeball set, a walker/riding car, and a steering wheel with lots of buttons to push. And boy is it loud. The funny thing is that after he looked at all his toys for like 2 minutes, he crawled off to the toys he'd been playing with for the whole week. Or he'd sit back and watch everyone else open their gifts or play with Annabelle's tea set. haha Even now that we're home, he won't play with his toys very much unless I'm sitting on the floor with him. If I try to do anything else for myself or whatever, he gets upset and follows me around until I pick him up. That's what I get for all the spoiled attention he got. : )
Trapper got a pistol, a gun case, some games for the Wii, and two remote controlled helicopters (that was my surprise to him). I got a shirt and a one year subscription to Rachael Ray's magazine from my in-laws, the COMPLETE series of "I Love Lucy," <----that was my FAVORITE------a docking station for my Ipod, and some slippers.
It was a White Christmas this year and so memorable. I'm so grateful to Heavenly Father for family and friends and for our safety this Christmas AND Thanksgiving this year. We have been truly been blessed. And in the words of "Mama" from "Hope Floats," "My cup runneth over."
