Company Picnic

URS, the company that Trapper works with, held a company picnic at a place called Oil Ranch in Hockely, Texas. It was pretty fun. I wasn't sure how Jackson would enjoy it since we'd be out in the wind and sun, but I think he enjoyed it. It had things like pony rides, a petting zoo, a train to take you around the place, a swimming pool, a fishing area, volley ball nets, places for basketball and baseball and soccer, hayrides, and lots more. When we got there, we ate hamburgers under the pavilion and talked with Trapper's coworkers. At first Jackson didn't like it in his snugli carrier, so we got the carseat and let him hang in that while we ate, and he liked that better. I think it helped to block him from all the wind. We got a him a cute camo hat to keep his little bald held protected from the sun, but it looks kind of funny in this picture. After we ate, we checked out all the funny farm animals at the petting zoo. Trapper thought it was funny how all the kids and even some adults were so fasinated by the animals. He grew up in Utah and around farm animals, so it wasn't a big deal to him. We tried to get a closer look at a horse so Jackson and I could pet him, but there were lke 4 or 5 people around him and they were all saying things like, "Wow! Look how tall!" ,"Look! I'm petting him!" These were all older people. It was kind of weird. They acted like they'd never seen a horse in their life. We found some rabbits, so Trapper took one out to try to get Jackson to pet it. I don't think he even knew what was going on. After they sat down with for a bit, Trapper tried to put it back, but it jumped out of his arms and tried to escape. I got a little bit of it on camera

Then we let Jackson get up close and personal with the pigs who were eating. Probably not the best idea because one of the pigs tried to eat the car seat with Jackson in it! It was funny. Pigs are some funny creatures, but they really enjoy getting attention.

After we saw the animals, Trapper tried roping a mechanical calf on wheels. haha It was funny. What's even funnier is that some of his coworkers, a couple of those who are pretty high up in the Houston division, watched him and He made a valiant effort all three times, but he was never successful in roping the calf. I got it on tape, so here it is.

That looks like so much fun. We got the invitation and I was bummed we missed it. Jackson will enjoy that stuff when he gets older. I can't believe all those adults were so in awe of the animals. Have they never left the city before? How sad!

Trap way to show your country roots! But that is sad that they were excited to pet a horse.

I am totally loving Trapper trying to rope that super cool looking calf. Seriously....SO funny! The calf that is, not Trapper. That looks like it was quite the set up. But I must admit that is a pretty good swing Trapper has on that rope. It reminds me of my "cowgirl" days when I used to show horses and all of the summers working on the ranch.
