BYU or Harvard?
In a few months, Trapper and I will be packing up (again) and taking a long road trip out to.........BYU-Provo! Trapper received an email today from Harvard saying they appreciated his interest but they were sorry they couldn't accept him. Rejection is a bummer. However, I know without a doubt that this is the Lord's plan. We prayed and fasted about this decision, and Trapper worked his tail off completing applications and essays for Harvard. We knew a month ago that he'd been accepted into BYU, but we were really surprised when Trapper was invited to interview with Harvard. It was a for real opportunity and the potentiality of it was exciting! So we went out to Harvard with hope and prayers that Trapper's interview would go well; all the while reminding ourselves that no matter what happened we would accept the Lord's will. When Trapper came out of his interview with smiles and said that it went better than he expected, we started to get real serious about the possibility of moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was a little scary and we'd thought about all the pros and cons of both BYU and Harvard. BYU's pro were that we'd be closer to family. It is cheaper. It'd be easier making friends in the Mormon community. We knew the area very well. We'd get more time at the temple. And I'd get to enjoy opportunities to do some family history at the Family History Library in Salt Lake! Harvard's pro's were that it would be an exciting ADVENTURE. The name "Harvard" is prestigious and would look very well on Trapper's resume. Future career opportunities would be more available. That was all I could come up with though. So today when I was waiting to hear from Trapper and find out if we were going to Harvard, I knew, in my mind, that I'd much rather go to BYU. We know where we're going now though, and we're both excited to get out there. And the best part is knowing that the Lord is in control, and I have faith in the plan that he has for our future.

Well, we're certainly excited that you'll be at BYU!! It'll be a lot of fun. Glad you guys are excited about it! And way to go Trapper on getting the interview with Harvard! That in it self is pretty sweet!
congratulations!!!! I am so glad for you guys!
that is way exciting for you guys. I think if I had a choice of Harvard and BYU I would have to choose BYU for the same reasons you guys did. It is a lot easier to live in mormonville then not. It will be nice to live close to family as well. Harvard would be an awesome experience but family and temple time is so much better. So excited!!!
I still think it's AWESOME that he got an interview with Harvard. However, the Lord will not disappoint! BYU is an AWESOME school and I think you guys will be happy there. Maybe, we'll end up there in the next couple years? Who knows??? In the meantime, good luck and I am going to miss you. Can we just stow away in some boxes? I won't make a peep. but Hannah probably will.
I am way excited for you guys! What an awesome new adventure for y'all. Way to make things happen and allow the Lord to direct ya'll. We are seriously so excited for you guys!!!
