This is a shout out to anyone who has ever been seriously discouraged or frightened by all the inadequacies we feel as human beings.
My best friend, Mari, is such an inspiration to me. When she has a struggle or a question, she's always gone to the scriptures or to Heavenly Father in prayer. I know she might think that she'd probably do what anyone else might've done and that'd be to try to solve everything on her own, but ever since I've known her (and we've known each other since we were 14) I've been continually in awe of how focused and how directed she is to ask for help from God. I'm grateful to God for her and the way she strives for perfection. This is a quote from Pres. Boyd K. Packer that she posted on her blog recently. It was the BEST thing to read at the end of my day. It was the little boost that I needed after wondering, today, how I'd be able to do this whole mom/wife thing. It's very daunting and sometimes I already feel like a failure. It's just that with all the moving and stuff, I feel very alone and friendless. I thought many times in the past few days how much I wish I could have Mari move around with me. That way I'd never have to wonder if I'd make any friends in the next ward, and I'd always have someone to sit and talk to in Relief Society. And here's that tender mercy Heavenly Father's gives me. He has given me hope and comfort from the quote that Mari posted. Mar, even through your own trials, you are lifting others up. You are my spiritual giant. Thanks for posting this quote.
"We live in a day when the adversary stresses on every hand the philosophy of instant gratification. We seem to demand instant everything, including instant solutions to our problems. We are indoctrinated that somehow we should always be instantly emotionally comfortable. When that is not so, some become anxious- and all too frequently seek relief from counseling, analysis... It was meant to be that life would be a challenge. To suffer some anxiety, some depression, some disappointment, even some failure is normal. Teach your members that if they have a good, miserable day once in a while, or several in a row, to stand steady and face them. Things will straighten out. There is a great purpose in our struggle in life." -Boyd K. Packer

Thank you for that quote! And for this post. Just what I needed.
And even though we have never met in person and I haven't seen Trapper in years, I still feel like you are my friend. :)
isn't it crazy how being a wife and mother can be SO overwhelming? Thank you for this post...and why don't we get together tomorrow while Livi is in school and go to the Nature Center in Bay Village? I know that Jackson would LOVE to see all the animals inside and out. Let me know..or I'll call you! Have you found a place to rent yet?
