Grandpa Yates' 80th Birthday Party

This weekend, we went to Utah for Trapper's Grandpa's 80th birthday celebration. We left on Friday, which was the day after we celebrated Trapper's birthday. Unfortunately, Trapper came down with whatever Jackson was having. So I drove the whole way to Utah while the two sicky boys watched videos on the dvd player. Trapper was pretty disappointed that it had to happen on the very day we leave for a vacation instead of on a work day. He is still not feeling in tip-top shape today, so he stayed home from work to get a little more rest.

Anyway, we were planning on going on a date that Friday, but he felt cruddy, so we cancelled it. : ( Oh well. Saturday, the big party began! We drove down to Heber and boarded an old rusty train that just takes you along a reservoir (not the Salt Lake like I had previously thought) for about 2 hours. That was a good time. I'd never been on a train before. Afterwards, we all ate out at a place called Breadstix, which was pretty good. I had a Monte Cristo sandwich. Anyone had one of those before?? It has turkey, ham, melted provolone and possibly swiss...but maybe not. Anyway, the outside of the sandwich is sprinkled with powdered sugar and then you dip it into raspberry jam. I recommend it. Once we got out of there, Jackson took a ride back with Josh and Sally while some of us went to Park City to shop at the outlet stores. It totally took me back to our honeymoon, 'cause that's where we went.

That night we had cake and ice cream and visited with people who were from Grandpa's ward. The entire time ......well the entire time we stayed at Grandpa's house, Jackson HAD to be outside doing something. He threw rocks, petted the dogs, rode on the tractor or lawn mower or just wandered around, but you could not get him to come back inside without him throwing the hugest tantrum. Thankfully, for him, Kim took him out as much as he wanted. He got spoiled with lots of love from his Grandpa!

We didn't really celebrate Easter this year. We had to leave before church started so we could get home at a decent hour, so no picture of us in our church clothes and no picture of Jackson with his Easter basket. We really didn't have the time to get it all together, and besides, Jackson has no idea at this point what Easter is. So we skipped it.
