If you plan on seeing this movie, then DO NOT read the rest of this post, because I plan on spoiling it. I just have to get the thoughts out of my head so I can move on from it. For those of you who prefer not to watch sad movies, like my mom, you may just find it easier to read this and know what happens, rather than be shocked.
For all you mothers out there that have seen it, didn't it just make you sick?! Okay, not sick, like gross, but...well, for me, my heart felt sick and broken. It was a good (well made) movie, don't get me wrong. It kept me interested, and I like Holocaust movies, but this one is probably the worst one I've ever seen. It leaves you with nothing happy in the end. It's about a boy who befriends a Jewish boy on the other side of a work camp. Everyone keeps trying to tell him how bad the Jewish people are, but he tries really hard to stay friends with this boy. It's very touching. Unfortunately, he gets the idea into his head that he'll dig his way into the camp and help his friend find his dad (who had gone missing in the camp, but most likely had been murdered in the "showers."), but as they're looking, they get dragged into the "showers" with others and both end up dying. And that's the end of the movie. TERRIBLE!! I bawled like a baby. I mean, I had a hard time controlling myself. Trapper didn't shed a tear, but I guess that's because I was doing enough for the both of us. I had to go to bed and pray that the Lord would help me to forget how upsetting it was so I could go to sleep. I had dreams all night about Jackson and little boys who might or might not get him into danger. I can't watch movies like that without thinking of Jackson. Seeing the mother's (in the movie) heart break in two was so painful for me. I've never had any tragic experiences in my life and for that I'm so grateful to Heavenly Father. I know that I will have to face hard things one day, but I hope that I will have enough faith to not let it destroy me. Anyway, my eyes are so tired today from having cried over that movie. If you haven't seen the movie and you read all this, and you're still interested in watching it. Good luck. Have tissues close by and a friend to cry with.

I hate movies like that. I don't mind sad movies as long as there is a good ending. I think I will NOT be seeing this movie. I can't stand movies where bad things happen to children.
You said Trap didn't cry, but I hope he was a good comforter. :)
OH yes, Trapper was a very good comforter. Anytime I ever need to cry, he always just puts his arm around me and lets me cry as long as I need. That's something I've always loved about him.
This movie deeply upset me, too! I cried like a baby- but not like I normally cry in movies. I cried because I was really upset! And I cried for awhile afterwards! I like needed comfort after watching it. It was a hard movie to watch because you just fall in love with Bruno and with his innocence. It just shows the innocence of little children throughout the whole movie and that same innocence is what made him die in the end and that made me so sick! It wasn't supposed to end like that! His dad was supposed to find him and stop the showers. I thought about that movie for days afterwards. And I think it was harder on me- and probably you- b/c I'm having a little boy so I have a super soft spot for boys! Anyway, it was definitely moving.
