Pinewood Derby Project

When Trapper sets his mind to working on a project, he gives it his best. Just like the deck, Trapper took extra care and time to preparing and putting his Pinewood derby car together. He said that one year he had helped his younger brother, Kris, make a car that resembled a convertible or a viper or something spiffy like that, but this time he wanted to make it the real thing. His favorite car is a Dodge Viper, so that's what he wanted to do. To him, making his car fast was the last thing on his mind. So, it took him 2 weeks in order for him to get the right look. When he didn't have the right tools, instead of quitting, he contacted a man in our ward and asked if he could use the tools in his workshop. He had a really good time doing that. He also got really excited when he found out that Hobby Lobby had whole pinewood derby car kits. I mean, he really got into it. Here are some photos of the beginning stages of his car. It's pretty crazy.

And this is the finished product.

Luckily, we got a videotape of the tournament. He came home that night laughing about how he never won a race, but his car was the coolest one there. haha He's a funny kid.

I thought it looked good before, but it looks even better all painted up. Trapper did a great job on it!! And here is my suggestion for Trapper's free ticket....you use it to go to Utah this next weekend since we will be there. I will watch Jackson all weekend if you want and you can sleep and read and relax and whatever else you want to do. All you have to do is survive the plane ride with Jackson, OK?!? How does that sound?

This is Amanda Laing (I can't get this Aubrey name off my comment thing?) Cool car Trap! Suz, I know just how you feel with a baby that won't sleep through the night, and has to be touching you. It sounds exactly like my naughty Boston (and he's 10 months old!) I think I've figured it out though, (at least it's worked for me) If I put Boston down for bed at 8:30 (same time as Kenna) he also gets up at 10:30 or 11- just about the time I'm going to bed, and he feels like he's had a nice 2 hour nap, so he's full of energy and won't go back to sleep. BUT... if I put him to bed late at 10:30 or 11 when I go to bed then we start sleeping at the same time (more sleep for me, and he sleeps way longer) at first he got up at 3:30, then the next week 4:30, then 5:30-6 YAY! So I see a light at the end og our tunnel, It was really sad at first, and it was a rough week, but I just has to put him in his crib and let him scream for 2 hours till he fell asleep, same in the night, I hated it, it almost killed me, but it worked eventually! Also, they say not to turn on any lights in the night, and not to make eye contact with your baby ( it makes them act as though they have just drank a cup of coffee or caffeine) and, last... don't talk to them, make getting up the night not rewardin, my pediatrician said well ya, if someone offered me a spot in their bed and a warm boob i'd wake up every hour too! Well, sorry to writ a novel, I just know how it is to have a bad sleeper and I got so tires I just did what was easy and would put Boston in bed with me and stuff, then it was so hard to break the habit! Good luck!
